Cute!

So todays Photo of the Day Challenge was "Cute!". It wasn't difficult to think of a subject to photograph. As soon as I had read the cue I knew I would have to photograph my daughters kitten Mia. She is the most adorable little cat, very friendly, she loves to be around her humans for cuddles, pats and love.

I originally tried to photograph her at her food bowl while she was eating cat biscuits but the lighting was far too low and the maximum aperture setting on the Panasonic Lumix GX7 with the standard 14-42 lens just wasn't letting nearly enough light in for my needs. I didn't want to use the in built flash, nor did I want to bump the ISO up higher than 800, which in itself is far higher than I would ever like to go but one thing the GX7 is great for, it is its ability to minimize noise at high ISO.

Still, I waited for her to finish and she walked into my daughters bedroom, straight onto the bed to settle in for a little cat nap (a 4 hour nap is little for cat standards right?). Thankfully with the light coming through the window I was able to get some shots and she got herself comfortable and enjoyed some attention from myself and my daughter.

Once I had got the shot that I wanted, I decided to lay down on the bed also for a rest, and Mia came up and gave me cuddles. My daughter handed me the camera so I could take another photo of Mia cuddling up to me. After this my daughter took control of the camera and took some photos of Mia as well.
