Today, was a long day. A really long day. Getting up to get my daughter ready for school, heating up some pancakes and maple syrup for her and hubby to have for breakfast, the smell made my stomach rumble while I quietly sipped my water, having to fast since dinner the night before. After dropping her off my husband and I heading straight to the doctors office where we stayed for 2 hours while I underwent a Glucose Tolerance Test, At only 22 weeks and 5 days pregnant it is a little bit early, and likely chances are that even if I have no issues with this one, I'll have to have another in 6 weeks time. So much fun.

After it was done, and finally getting to eat, we came home where I slept most of the afternoon away, so happy that hubby had the day off work today and was great doing some work at home while I slept, looking after my daughter when she arrived home from school, I was able to sleep till 5pm. Still exhausted, the last thing I really felt like doing after having some dinner (thank goodness for pizza delivery!) was taking the photo for the day. I knew I had to wait until after nightfall for this one to capture the lights I wanted to.

The cue for today being Path.

While there were so many possible interpretations for this one, this was the photo I wanted to take. While I am underwhelmed at the photo to say the least, there is really nothing 'good' about this photo in any photography or aesthetic sense, I am just proud of myself for actually getting out there and getting it done today.

Why did I choose this to photograph though? The juxtaposition really. This is the little path that leads from the main building on the property where my parents live to the building where my husband and I reside. My father decided to hang up these brightly coloured light bulbs, a staple piece of lighting found at any Australian outdoor barbecue party or social gathering. So strange, that these 'party' lights then lead to where I spend the vast majority of my time, in my introversion and isolation. The juxtaposition is always so striking to me. Even more so as they are suppose to light up the path below so that we can see where we are going at night, however, the light from them does not reach the ground, so their purpose is limited to the point of invalid.

Either way, the lights have gone off now, it is time to sleep. I cannot remember what tomorrows challenge is, I guess it will be a surprise for all of us.
